5 Langkah Awal Berburu Beasiswa

Selamat mencoba, semoga berhasil!!

Sofja Kovalevskaja Award for International Researchers, Germany

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s Sofja Kovalevskaja Award, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, is granted to young exceptionally promising re-searchers from abroad in recognition of outstanding academic achievements and enables them to establish their own junior research groups at research institutions in Germany.
Scientists and scholars from abroad, whose research records to date have already qualified them to be recognized as top-level junior researchers and who are expected to continue producing outstanding results as recipients of the Sofja Kovalevskaja Award, are eligible to submit applications.
The programme is open to scientists and scholars from all countries and disciplines who completed their doctorates with distinction less than six years ago. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation particularly welcomes applications from qualified, female junior researchers.
Virtually unaffected by administrative constraints, the award winners will be able to concentrate on high-level, innovative research work of their own choice in Germany and thus strengthen the internationalization of research in Germany. The award amount will allow the winners to finance their own junior research group at the university or non-university research institution of their choosing in Germany and also cover their living expenses.
Candidates will be selected solely on the basis of their academic qualifications. There are no quotas for individual disciplines or countries. The most important assessment criteria are:
  • academic publications in internationally reviewed journals and for publishing houses

  • statements on the candidate’s academic profile and potential in the form of expert re-views, requested by the candidate, from different institutions and, where possible, from different countries

  • the academic quality and feasibility of the research project proposed by the candidate

Applications are assessed by independent peer reviewers appointed by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. An independent Alexander von Humboldt Foundation selection commit-tee selects up to eight award winners and determines the award amount. The award is conferred by the President of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
Value and purpose of award and use of funds
Winners of the Sofja Kovalevskaja Award will be granted funding totaling up to 1.65 million EUR to conduct the approved research project over a period of five years commencing immediately after receiving the award (this sum includes a 15% administrative flat-rate, cf. below). The award amount will be paid in installments. The first installment may be drawn as soon as the award winner has accepted the award and submitted the complete acceptance documents.
The award is intended to sponsor the project headed by the winner at a host institution in Ger-many (including the necessary equipment and material, personnel, travel expenses etc.). It may be utilized for all expenditure serving this purpose and should be used economically and prudently. Scientific equipment financed by the award will become the property of the host institution immediately upon purchase. Part of the award may be used to cover the award winner’s living expenses1.
The host institution in Germany will receive a flat-rate totaling 15% of the award amount (administrative flat-rate). This sum may be used to finance a “welcome package”, for example, including measures to help integrate the award winner in his or her new personal and professional environment. It may also be used to support the professional integration of a partner (dual career couples) and to compensate for the potential loss of retirement savings that were accrued abroad. We should particularly like to draw attention to the possibility of utilizing the administrative flat-rate to initiate the financing of a tenure-track option.
Furthermore, the flat-rate may also be used to help cover costs resulting from the programme-related use of existing and/or specifically acquired material and specially-created personnel infrastructure (e.g. general institute facilities, laboratories or workrooms, operating and maintenance costs, finance and personnel management and auditing).
The host institution is permitted to pass any left-over funding from the administrative flat-rate to the award winner for the furtherance of his or her research work.
Detailed information on the award winners’ accounting obligations (proof of use of funds, etc.) can be found in the Regulations on the use of funds for the Sofja Kovalevskaja Award.
Application requirements
  1. Doctorate or comparable academic degree (Ph.D., C.Sc. or equivalent), completed with distinction less than six years prior to the date of application.

  2. Cutting-edge academic achievements documented by a comprehensive list of academic publications for internationally-reviewed journals and publishing houses.

  3. Detailed expert’s report by an academic host at a research institution in Germany as well as the host’s agreement and the confirmation from the administration at the host institution.

  4. Expert references by important collaborative partners and academics at the applicant’s own institute and other institutes, if possible not all located in his/her country of origin.

  5. Language skills: scholars in the humanities or social sciences and physicians must have a good knowledge of German if it is necessary to carry out the project successfully; otherwise a good knowledge of English; scientists and engineers must have a good knowledge of German or English.

  6. Origin: Foreign academics staying in Germany are eligible to apply if they have been in Germany for less than 24 months at the time of application. German academics are eligible to apply if they have been working in an academic capacity abroad for at least five consecutive years at the time of application. If in doubt, check with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (info@avh.de) before submitting an application, as formal grounds might militate against the application.

  7. No previous Sofja Kovalevskaja Award: This award can only be granted once to any individual researcher.

Application procedure
Applications must reach the
Alexander von Humboldt Foundation
Selection Department
Jean-Paul-Str. 12, 53173 Bonn, Germany
by September 1, 2011 at the latest. This submission date is not an absolute deadline; how-ever, in the event of a late or incomplete submission it may not be possible to process and assess the application in the time available.
Only the valid application documents should be used. They can be downloaded from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s website or obtained from the Foundation directly. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that the applications they submit are complete. Substantially in-complete applications will be returned to the applicant unprocessed.
Visit the FAQs on the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s website for more information on the selection procedure.
General regulations and obligations
The award recognizes the outstanding academic record to date as well as the personality of leading junior academics. It is thus taken for granted that, both in their previous academic work and during the research stay in Germany, award winners have abided by and will continue to abide by the Rules of Good Scientific Practice and the corresponding laws obtaining at the respective research location. Should an award be granted, further details can be found in the Regulations on the Use of Funds.
When accepting the award, award winners undertake especially:
  • to concentrate their entire working activity on the research project and to be present at the host institution in Germany regularly and continually; secondary employment is only permissible in exceptional cases, provided that it does not interfere with the sponsorship objectives, and requires written agreement from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation;

  • not to utilize any other fellowships or funds from other German institutions designated for living expenses when using part of the award money to cover their living expenses;

  • not to make use of any congruent sponsorship from funding deriving from German academic-sponsorship; part funding from German or foreign sources must be reported to the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation immediately.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation strongly recommends that host institutions should grant award winners the right to supervise doctoral students through to submission, if necessary in cooperation with a university. This should be negotiated with the host institution and, if necessary, in cooperation with a university on an individual contract basis. Any such contract should be submitted to the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation after the award has been accepted.

The School aims to be a world-class institution by offering innovative educational programmes for future international leaders of government and business organizations and equip them with the latest knowledge to meet the challenges of a globalized world.
The KDI School offers in-depth academic programmes that focus on real-world development policy and public policy issues and are taught by experienced faculty comprising experts and professionals in their own fields. The curriculum is both innovative and comprehensive; it was designed specifically with the needs of midlevel professionals from the public and private sectors. Classes use various modern technologies to maximize efficiency and learning effectiveness.
The Colombo Plan began collaboration with The KDI School of Public Policy and Management in 2006. It symbolises a significant milestone in Republic of Korea’s role in Colombo Plan. This Long Term Scholarship (LTSP) represents ROK’s first assistance programme for post graduate scholars of the Colombo Plan in the field of public policy. Since 2006, five batches of 21 Colombo Plan’s scholars have been trained by The KDI School.
MASTER OF DEVELOPMENT POLICY (MDP)
Based on KDI’s hand-on experience on development policy, the Master of Development Policy (MDP) program examines various socio-economic issues in both the theoretical and the practical framework. The program provides capacity building for international professionals, including government officials, development consultants and regional specialists who wish to contribute to development policy making. Additional focus falls on fostering professionals in the field of Official Development Assistance (ODA). Students may declare a concentration among 7 concentrations but must take development track courses
MASTER OF PUBLIC POLICY (MPP)
The Master of Public Policy (MPP) program is designed to provide a global perspective and professional expertise in public policy areas. The program is highly regarded both in and outside Korea, particularly among developing nations and government officials. The faculty with outstanding research backgrounds and empirical knowledge offer a leading curriculum that integrates theory and practice. Students may declare a concentration from among 7 concentrations upon completing 39 credits toward their graduation requirements.
The highly diverse student composition provides a unique educational environment. Both domestic and international students from all walks of life, including the government, the media and NGOs are able to share ideas, knowledge and experiences, and build a dynamic global network.
CONCENTRATIONS FOR MASTER’S PROGRAMS
1. Global Finance and Regulation
The concentration on Global Finance and Regulation aims to help students understand the theory, the practice, and the policy issues in the areas of macroeconomics and finance.
Target students include mid-career professionals in finance ministries, central banks, financial supervisory authorities, self-regulatory agencies, and others who aspire to work in such institutions. The rich list of finance courses can also meet the needs of students from the private sector. Upon completion, students are expected to have a full understanding of two key agendas in recent G20 summits: global imbalance and international financial regulatory system.
2. Trade and Industrial Policy
In this era of globalization, no country can enjoy economic prosperity without engaging in international trade. While domestic industries struggle to adjust themselves in the global market, industrial policy can facilitate the process. This concentration aims to offer theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of international trade and industrial policy. Legal and institutional arrangements in the world trade will be analyzed in the context of contemporary issues such as FTA, FDI, international trade negotiations, dispute resolutions, and etc.
Target students include mid-career professionals in trade-related ministries and business entities or international organizations, as well as those students who aspire to work in such institutions upon graduation.
3. Fiscal and Social Policy
The market is an indispensable mechanism for efficient resource allocation and long-term growth. The workings of the market, however, are often accompanied by extreme poverty, externalities, information asymmetry, and coordination failures, thereby entrapping vulnerable individuals and communities at a lower end of possible equilibria. To promote efficiency, equity and solidarity is a significant goal of public policy in this light. On the basis of economics and other social science disciplines, this concentration explores ways to tackle these challenges through taxes, government expenditures, and prudent regulations.
Target students include midcareer professionals working in the fields of fiscal policy, poverty alleviation, education, healthcare, social insurances, labor protection, and cultural policy.
4. Regional Development and Environment
Sustainable Development and Green Growth are keywords in the 21st century development discourse. Leaders in the public sector need to understand the dynamic relations among economic development, environmental protection and societal development.
With this concentration, students develop the knowledge and skills to 1) draft regional development projects and policies considering environmental consequences, 2) conduct environmental impact assessments, 3) facilitate stakeholder participation and orchestrate environmental dispute resolution, and 4) understand complex policymaking procedures in regional development and environmental management programs.
Graduates may find positions as local or regional development planners and decision makers, environmental analysts in state, national, and international agencies and NGOs, or infrastructure development in the private sector.
5. Global Governance and Political Economy
As the challenges of development and public policy are inexorably connected with the forces of globalization, to study them requires an interdisciplinary approach. This concentration focuses on the reciprocity between politics and economics, investigating how political factors influence economic processes and vice versa. The concentration aims to educate mid-career professionals and future public servants to acquire analytical skills, intellectual depth and high public-spiritedness, necessary to play a leading role in the increasingly global, interdependent field of policymaking.
6. Entrepreneurship and Private Sector Development
Entrepreneurship and private sector development are the key drivers of economic growth, job creation, and poverty reduction. This concentration aims to provide students with the theoretical knowledge, policy perspectives and practical skills in the emerging field of entrepreneurship and private sector development. Some of the key issues include the role of entrepreneurship in economic development, government policies to promote entrepreneurship, firm-level strategies for growth and innovation, and international comparison of entrepreneurship policies and strategies.
Target students include government policy makers, public and private sector managers, and future entrepreneurs interested in this dynamic field.
7. Public Management and Leadership
Strategic management and leadership skills are in growing demand for managing public sector organizations, which are characterized by binding mission and mandates, limited internal capacity, resource constraints, and external political environment. On top of providing essential management theories and analytical tools, this concentration is designed to develop a keen insight through case studies and build up practical skills to solve real-world problems, including conflict resolution and public sector management.

The Master of Development Policy (MDP) and the Master of Public Policy (MPP) programs are taught in English. The KDI School also provides Basic Korean Language courses for international students.

3. Tes menulis
Tes menulis berlangsung selama 60 menit.

• skor 9 - pengguna ahli
• skor 8 - pengguna yang sangat baik
• skor 7 - pengguna yang baik
• skor 6 - pengguna kompeten
• skor 5 - pengguna sederhana
• skor 4 - pengguna terbatas
• skor 3 - pengguna sangat terbatas
• skor 2 - pengguna intermiten (hanya mengetahui informasi yang sangat mendasar)
• skor 1 - tidak memiliki kemampuan bahasa Inggris

Berapa biaya tes IELTS?

Annex: 3 – Research Grants for Doctoral Candidates within the “Sandwich Model”
Objective
Whereas conventional scholarships for doctorate or PhD studies assume that a scholarship holder will stay at a German institution of higher education for several consecutive years, the “Sandwich Scheme” described hereafter is a flexible multi phase funding programme. Within the Sandwich Scheme, PhD students carry out their research and studies alternately in their home country and in Germany, following a schedule set in advance and under continuous supervision by a German academic. The doctorate is obtained at the homeland university.
Purpose
Within the academic funding schemes of numerous development countries, training and further education of future and young university teachers is given special priority. Besides specialisation and increasing previously gained knowledge, students very often strive for a PhD or doctorate degree as frequently required according to the regulations ruling university careers in their home country. Even in cases where PhD studies would be possible in the student’s home country, a doctorate degree from an industrial nation is often preferred for reasons of prestige. PhD studies abroad, however, carry with them risks: of alienation connected with very long study courses, loss of originally reserved lecturing posts at the home university, of research geared too much to the developed country and its needs, and finally the risk of temptation to settle in the host country.
In an effort to minimize these risks, the DAAD has developed the scheme of cooperative PhD funding (Sandwich-Scholarships) for nationals of developing countries whose universities offer doctorates.
Procedure
This means the procedure can be as follows:
  • the German university lecturer/professor travels to the homeland of the future doctoral candidate to draw up a joint protocol signed by both the local and the German supervisor, which details the dissertation subject, the planned work measures, and their duration

  • preparatory studies and research for the PhD thesis in the home country (data collection and field research) without DAAD funding

  • studies and research at a German institution of higher education (maximum 2 years)

  • if necessary, visit by the foreign academic supervisor and co-advisor at the German institution (progress control, consolidation of institutional contacts)

  • completion of the thesis in the home country (without DAAD funding)

  • visit of the German supervisor to indonesia (last corrections and participation at the viva as external examiner)

The main characteristic of this Sandwich Scheme is the individually tailor-made PhD programme schedule set with the greatest flexibility possible regarding the beginning and duration of each individual funding phase.
Eligibility, application forms and documents for this programme are the same as for research grants for doctoral candidates and young academics and scientists. The extensive and detailed research proposal must be accompanied by a work- and time schedule agreed upon by the academic advisors, both in the home country and in Germany.
Annex: 4 – DAAD Research Grants Awarded to support Extended Medical Continuing Education and Training (not full Medical Specialisation in Germany)
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) does not support full courses of training for medical specialisation. Application for a scholarship to support medical continuing education and training lasting from one to a maximum of two years at German university clinics is open only to candidates who meet the following criteria.
Applicants must :
  • have completed at least 7 years of medical training with a university degree and must hold a license to practice medicine in their home country (physicians/dentists from developing countries must prove that they have gained at least 3 years of professional practice after completing their medical /dental training)

  • have commenced specialist medical training in their home country in a course which leads to a professional qualification

  • be studying or working at a university clinic in their home country at the time of application

  • intend to pursue a university career after completing the continuing education and training in Germany

  • have received confirmation of the provision of academic supervision and a study place from German university clinic

In order to be able to work in a German clinic, foreign physicians require a so-called “Permit for the Temporary Practice of Medicine” (Erlaubnis zur voruebergehenden Ausuebung des aerztlichen Berufs), which the DAAD will obtain on behalf of its scholarship holders. Please note that this may take several weeks or even months.
