Ancora Foundation Graduate Fellowship at the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford
One scholarship is offered annually for an MSc in Environmental Change and Management at Oxford University.
The one-year course, one of Oxford’s most competitive and popular graduate science programs, is by coursework with assessment by assignments and written examinations. It aims to produce students with a broad appreciation of all aspects of the management of people and institutions in relation to environmental change. Successful applicants develop an in-depth understanding of not only the causes and consequences of environmental change, but also an awareness of the legal, economic and ethical underpinnings of remedial action or management. The central theme of this course is the development of a truly inter-disciplinary approach to the management of the environment.
Over 400 students have successfully graduated from the course since its creation in 1994. Many graduates from different nationalities, age and backgrounds have gone on to successful careers related to the environment either in business, governments or NGO. In the 2006 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Nairobi, there were 12 school alumni in professional capacities. This demonstrates that the program really makes a difference to both the people who take the course and its impact to global environmental change. Well-known graduates include Pakistan’s former Minister of State for the Environment Amin Aslam.
