Description The American Helicopter Society’s philanthropic arm, the Vertical Flight Foundation (VFF), was founded in 1967. The Foundation is an independent charitable trust, governed by a Board of Trustees, for the support of education in rotorcraft and vertical-takeoff-and-landing (VTOL) aircraft engineering. The Foundation’s perations
are made possible solely by tax deductible donations. Each year, the VFF awards scholarships to students who demonstrate an interest in pursuing engineering careers in the vertical flight industry. The Foundation has awarded more than 170 scholarships to students from throughout the world in the three decades since it was
established. The scholarships are merit-based and are awarded in two categories: undergraduate and graduate.

Individuals will be eligible once for one of the final two years of undergraduate studies and once for a year of graduate study. Applicants must be in school through the full academic year following receipt of the scholarship. The value of the scholarships may range from $2,000 - $4,000 depending upon endowment earnings.

To be eligible for a scholarship, you must
-Be a full-time student at an accredited school of engineering
-Complete the entire Application for Scholarship (Sections I, II & III)
-Submit the Application for Scholarship to the Vertical Flight Foundation, 217 North Washington St., Alexandria, VA 22314-2538, USA by February 1 for the next academic year (September - June). Postmarks will govern timeliness.
-Ensure that supporting data (references, transcripts) are received by the deadline.
-Submit an official grade transcript (including the most recent set of grades issued) and an academic endorsement from a professor or dean at your school. Items need not be submitted with the application but must be received by FEBRUARY l of the award year.
