Excellent Scholarship/Beasiswa Unggulan (ES/BU)ES Definition
The Excellent Scholarship Program of the Directorate of Human Resources the Directorate General of Higher Education is aimed to provide education financial aid for education personnel and prospective lecturers in the higher education environmentin Indonesia to enter graduate education programs (master and / or doctorate degree) at home or abroad. Scholarships are awarded to the candidate who is a freshman for a maximum of 24 months for a master’s degree and 36 months for the doctoral program.
ES Goals and Objectives
The 2011 EcellentScholarship Program for Education Personnel and Candidate Lecturer aims to:
Improve the quality of universities under the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) through the provision of scholarships for education personnel and prospective lecturers.
Increase the quantity of university lecturers who hold academic qualifications as mandated by Law Number 14 of 2005 on Teachers and Lecturers and achieve critical mass of faculty in the fields of strategic sciences.
Enhance the professionalism of teachers in accordance with their role and function in providing serviceto institutions of higher education.
Provide opportunities for universities to strengthen their human resources, especially through graduate education for education personnel and prospective faculties.
ES Requirements
General Requirements for Excellent Scholarship Recipients Candidates include:
· Candidates arelecturers or personnel in education working in the MoNE environment;
· Candidates are nominated by the leadership of therelated university/institutionwith a minimum rank of echelon II in the MoNE environment or the head of the university;
· Candidates obtain a cumulative grade point (GPA) of 3.0 for bachelor graduates who intends to pursue masters degree, and GPA 3.25 for masters graduates intending to enter PhDprogramme;
· The maximum age for candidates entering masters studiesis 38 years and those continuing to PhD should be at a maximum 40 years old;
· Already accepted in a postgraduate program, which can be verified with an acceptance letter from the organising university.
Special Requirements for OverseasExcellent Scholarship Recipients
· Pass the selection test held by the Selection Team formed by the DGHE;
· Have received an unconditional Letter of Acceptance from a reputable overseas university.
· Have a certificate of English proficiency (a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or an IBT TOEFL score of 87), or other language proficiency certificates in accordance with the language used at the target overseas universities.

Registration Procedures for Overseas Excellent Scholarship
· Understand thoroughly and comply with all stipulation contained in the 2011 Superior Scholarship Guidelinesfor the students;
· Have consulted with the head of the current work place or head of the institution where the candidate will be working, to get referrals and approvals;
· Candidate recipients of the Excellent Scholarship should submit their applications to the DGHE through online registrations by logging in to the DGHE website address(http:// beasiswa.dikti.go.id/bu); Fill out Form-A from DGHE;
· Attach a valid Letter of Acceptance (Letter of Offer) from the institution and / or from prospective advisors / mentors at target overseas universities. An unconditional Letter of Acceptance (Letter of Offer)- from the target overseas would be an advantage;
· Applicants taking PhD programme should attach copies of diplomas and transcripts (GPA) of bachelor and masterdegrees which have been legalised, and for those taking the masters programme, attach copies of legalised bachelor diplomas and transcripts;
· Attach a copy of a valid certificate that verifies theapplicant’s English language proficiency (ascore of minimum 6.0 for IELTS or at least 87of IBT TOEFL) or a copy of certificate of other language proficiency used in the respective target universities, if required by the university;
· PhD programmeapplicants must attach a research proposal that has been approved by, or at least been communicated with, the prospective advisor/sponsorfrom the target overseas university.
