Purpose of award: To recognize outstanding student writers.
Eligibility requirements: Applicants must be current high school juniors who will graduate the following school year, and they must be nominated for the award by their high school English department. Nominees must provide two writing samples: one timed response to a prompt written under the supervision of a teacher and one sample of their best work.
Target applicant: High school students
Minimum GPA: None
Amount: Certificate of commendation.
Number of awards: Varies
Deadline: February 2.
How to apply: Applications are available online. However, students must be nominated by their high school English departments.
